Why?

In this project, a redesign of an online library catalogue was undertaken. The goal was to identify weaknesses of the website and improve them in a user-centered way.

Who are the users and what do they need? Based on these questions, we created user interviews to find out what the needs of the users of this website are.

One problem our exemplary user often encounters is that the book titles don't tell her much about whether the content is relevant to her or not.

The next step was all about understanding what works best for our users. From simple ideas like changing the placement of UI elements, to “community features”
-many ideas were tested to find out what works the best.

solution

We introduced a Delight feature, which allows users to search specifically for questions and topics rather than from a book title.

Users can enter keywords so that content that best matches the content of their search is suggested to them.

Based on the ratings of other users, you can see whether others have already found the medium helpful.

There is also the possibility to add media to custom created lists, so you can continue browsing without forgetting a medium.

When clicking on a medium, the user gets an insight into the medium to be able to decide, whether the book meets the requirements.
